I love sewing things like this, just for no reason than i just wanted to. I have such a huge passion for fun kids' clothes, loud and bright and fun to wear, and it's getting really hard to find the content I want (if you are this person, or know someone, please say hello bc i NEED YOU in my life). This just started with a pair of motocross-inspired pants that I pinned on my pinterest, and then it sort of just spiralled out into this entire fun outfit. The best part, as usual, is that Edison LOVES this outfit so much. Unfortunately there's not really a need to wear cropped jackets much, so she usually only wears it when she remembers she has it or if she's playing. the pants and the cropped top though are both items she wears a lot!

This whole outfit is just jam-packed with fun! the colours, the fabrics, the amount of pockets! the jacket also has a backpack built into the back of it, we've been calling it a backpacket ahah. It's made from 100% recycled and reused fabrics from my scrap bins so it was really fun!

Let's start with the pants! I used all scraps and leftover fabric for all of this, most of them leftovers from this fun time! The pattern is the aviator pants by winter wear designs. I was originally going to leave the cargo pockets off the side because i'm not really into cargo pants/pockets but then i was like, hang on just a minute! the only reason i'm not into them is because of all those pants and shorts guys were wearing in the early 2000s and it just was a bit of a slobby look (especially when they wore them with thongs, lmao). why should i let other people's bad fashion get in my way of a good time?

exactly, and that's how eddie's pants have got the cutest little cargo pockets on them! there's six pockets in the pants overall, which i think is pretty amazing. the cargo pockets were made from scraps from ikea curtains! the fabric is a super heavy almost canvas, and one is from one set of curtains that has like black and white trees on it, the other is cat faces. I don't think you can get either of them anymore, but they looked like this and this.

the knee patches are paddd with fleece on the inside, so they're soft and sturdy and also just a cute little contrast. the fabric is leftovers from these dresses i made so long ago! the waistband is from a knit skirt i got from the opshop. i cut up the main part of it for leggings for nova (using the hem of the mini skirt as hem on the leggings ;D ) and the waistband was just unpicked and reused for these pants - even the elastic was reused!

I DID sew the triangle insets at the ankles on the wrong way, they're meant to be on the outside of the leg but does it really matter? nope! still looks pretty cool, especially in leopard print! i used the same fabric for the beautiful welt pockets on the bum, which i am SO pleased with. they turned out so neat and perfect, STOKED.

the ankle cuffs are the leftovers from the rainbow striped shirt i made for myself earlier this year! still a shirt i wear weekly, too! i think the different coloured cuffs are fun!

Honestly i really want a pair for myself... okay onto the jacket!

I used the reversible zippy hoodie by kitschy coo! i didn't make this reversible because of the zipper, but it's fully lined and if eddie wanted to keep it unzipped she could definitely wear it the other way out as well. The main part of the jacket is also ikea fabric, it's this really fun pink & white stripe with big broccoli pieces on it. it's thick, like a canvas and the same kind of fabric as the curtains. This fabric i thought was so funny, that's why i bought it, but then i realised that on the other side of the world my sewing bff has the exact same fabric ._. meant to be!

The wrist cuffs and the ribbing at the bottom of the jacket are the same as the ankle cuffs on the pants and i used a big chunky yellow separating zipper for the front. I think that was the only thing in this whole outfit that i had to actually go out and buy! my zip stash is looking pretty miserable (like my button box). The front is decorated with just little bits and bobs, a patch with her name on it (i used one of the labels i got made up to sew into her clothes), and some ribbon with lions on it as well as some orange pompom trim!

Obviously  i cropped it from the original pattern, i don't know how much but i just measured how long i wanted it on her as well as compensating for the bottom band and just cut the pattern piece to that length.

The back is like a huge backpatch, made from the cat canvas fabric, with a box pocket attached to it and a zip. This part was so fun to figure out, but it's not too hard! just make sure when you're adding fun little features you add them to the pieces before you construct your finished garment.

This is what it looks like reversed:

Last, but not least, let's take a look at the cute cropped top! This style is my favourite, and hers too. I just loved the cropped shirt/long sleeves combo and emulate it into my own fashion as well! The pattern i used here was the petite sweater by lil luxe collection. I adore it!

The fabrics were all from my clothing to reconstruct stash, it's a big tub in the corner of the playroom where clothing gets flung if i'm not going to wear it anymore but i want to sew it up into something else! The black with white stripes was a shirt of tim's, the blue was a dress and the white with black stripes is a shirt that used to be mine.

I didn't make any alterations to the pattern, except for swapping the cowl neck out for a regular slightly high neckband. i think eddie is a size 4 with LLC patterns
