Morning friends! I stitched up this super cute little two piece outfit for Eddie last night - inspired by Rae's little 'Love My Geranium' competition she has going on Instagram right now! I've sewn a few Geraniums before, I know I have, but i have not much photographic evidence? And I can't really remember what they looked like but as I was sewing the pattern last night I distinctly remember putting a few together!
I never thought I'd be at this stage of sewing where I would forget entire garments I have sewn! I guess that's why taking photos and blogging about them is good for me to remember!
Anyway, I really wanted to use the last two fabric quarters I had from my Katherine Cordega stash - the Nevermore Ravens! I had the purple and the blue colourways left and a bit of the feathers (you can read all the details about those and see what I made with the grey colourway here) and the Geranium Dress bodice only takes a fat quarter for the entire front and back panels (yess)! How cute is that little divet in the neckline? I feel the sleeve shape and that divet really make the Geranium SUCH a Geranium for me (personally!)
The purple Nevermore ravens turned into the front and back top layer of the skirt, the grey feather scrap became a waistband and I used the more of the grey shirting I used for the bodice band (and lining) for the bottom layer of the skirt! It's a pretty simple skirt, honestly, I might do up a quick tutorial for it because it's great for scrap busting and using up fat quarters if you ever find yourself with a million and no desire for quilting to use them up on, lmao.
Also, I made an Instagram account specifically for my sewing, a lot of my sews go straight to there because I don't always have the time to take SLR photos and then write a blog post about them! So if you need your almost daily Max California fix and see what I'm stitching up, go follow @maxcalifornia_ !
