When i was asked if i wanted to be a part of the Spring Dress Tour, i checked out GYCT Designs dresses and knew right away which one the fierce little princess would want! She's lately become a hug fan of Belle from Beauty and the Beast and while i don't really love the story, i do love that Belle is initially a pretty fierce and determined young lady who doesn't take crap from that narcissistic Gaston!

So obviously i chose the Happily Ever After Dress! and obviously eddie LOVE this idea. as i was sewing it the little babe kept coming up to me to kiss my arm or my hand (wherever she could reach) and when she finally was able to wear it she was S T O K E D!

I used just yellow cotton poplin to stitch it up, making this more of a little dress-up dress than anything else (you should see the beautiful princess dresses in the pattern though, all silks and satins and organza) although lincraft didn't have enough of the right yellow so we wound up with this sunny yellow  (it's not so bad,but compared to the original yellow i wanted it's not my favourite!). Yellow is her favourite colour too!

The pattern comes together much easier than i assumed it would, just make sure you read the instructions because there were a few times i got a little lost and had to reread a few times t understand. I've mentioned in the past, though, that this is more my personal problem as i'm better at following illustrations! (note: this pattern is illustrated!). Also when you're cutting out the bodice make sure you cut out everything again out of the lining fabric,

I adore the princess seams on this dress, and she adores the length. It's a size 4 and fits her fantastically. I used the natural width of the fabric for the skirt instead of cutting it the recommended width - mine wasn't that much wider (150cm). For her to be able to wear this dress more regularly, though, I'm going to have to take it up an inch or two because she'll just ruin the bottom (she's done this before) and i don't blame her!

We went with a modern Belle kind of vibe with her shoes & hat! I hand stitched a rose to the cap and i'm so pleased with how it turned out. I'm going to be wearing this hat tomorrow because I can! (all poses are the model's own, by the way)

I really had my doubts when sewing this up, i just didn't think my fabric choice was going to work out and i made so mistakes (it's hard to sew with a seven month old on your hip!) but I can see i'm evolving as a seamist because i actually take the time now to go back and fix incorrect seams or bits that have messed up instead of just letting it go.

    1. thank you! it was hard because i always need a little twist on things and sometimes eddie is very traditional in that she wanted to be the belle from the disney cartoon ahha. fortunately i can persuade her otherwise :D she still gets her perfect dress at least
