This cute little romper is the Santorini Sunsuit by my very favourite Lil Luxe Collection! I tested this at the end of last year and ADORED it so, so much. I wound up making three more for eddie and her cousins to wear to the new years' party (you can see them here on my instagram, also here). I haven't taken proper photos of those rad ones but i did manage to get some snaps of eddie in this. It was the first tester round of it, so some things have been altered in the final version (mostly the back waistband area of the sunsuit!)
The fabric was this little scrap of green from the op shop, i really love this kind of fabric because it is LEGIT from the 90s and it makes me so happy! There's never going to be anything like this sunsuit to ever exist and that is just my style isn't it!
The girl loves it, she wears this in heavy rotation, and it's not hard for her to get out of it to go to the toilet. I know that's a big thing for some people? She undoes the front tie to get in and out of it and since it's just a simple knot she's pretty great at it :) The sunsuit features a little knotted top, a peephole at the base of her sternum (ADORABLE), a cute tie up back and double-layered shorts. I made one of the sunsuits into a dress very easily by omitting the shorts and adding a big gathered rectangular loop of fabric then hemming it! Easy!
I think a sunsuit with a skirt AND the shorts under the skirt would be a really cute little look too! The pattern also comes with just the shorts option if you didn't want to sew the whole romper up! As always with Lil luxe collection patterns, it LOOKS super intricate to sew but i feel if you're an adventurous beginner you'd do alright with this. Jessica's instructions are methodical and simple, the diagrams are really fantastic as well, and of course you can always ask for help in the lil luxe fb group! I really don't think anyone should be afraid of sewing something because it *looks too hard*. Sure sewing can be tricky, but everyone is always learning and it's all part of that exciting adventure of creating!
How great is my model, she's so extra i love her. I didn't know what the heck she was doing but just went with it. Much like my parenting of her, really, ahaha. The sunsuit part of my #2018makenine also!
This shot was me begging her to "please just stand there" ahhaha
